Monthly
American 900 Round
May 5, 2013
We had 20 shooters for the monthly 900.
Weather was excellent with our shooting line well protected from the
wind. We got to break in 5 new FITA targets. A little sticky on
pulling, but no pass throughs. We backed the Cub target up to 40/30/20
for Jaylin to begin her practicing for the big step up to Youth class early
next year. Good shooting Jaylin. Top compound Jerry Mash. Top
traditional John Scott. We'll miss the last of our snow birds heading
north next week, Jerry Mash and Jerry LaChance. Our newly formed,
bragging rights award, First Clean target, goes to Melanie White, on the first
end at 50 yards.

April Monthly
American 900
What a monthly 900. I think
I counted 24 in the front field shooting and their were 10 or 12 on the back
FITA range. Good to see some visitors from other counties, Melanie White
from Everglades, and Larry Michaels from Sarasota and Michelle Stall dropped in
to visit. Thanks to Jon Colman who helped run the youths on the back
range. A few got away with out giving me a score card but the ones that
did are posted below. If your score posted is different than you
remember, maybe you should pick a different score keeper the next time,
lol... A new award is in the offering. First clean target.
This months winner, Alan Letcher, at 50 yards. Checks in the mail..
Had a tie for fouth place, including 10 count. A single arrow shoot out
would have been fun. After the match those remaining chowed down on a
sausage dawg... Next month the Philadelphia Bowman will have one of their
postal matches of "The Bowman Round". If you missed it last year it was
much fun, and by the way we won it. They'll be stepping it up a notch
this year, looks like as many as 20 teams scattered all over the world are
signed up. 84 arrows at 80 yards, old style scoring on the FITA target,
gold - 9, red - 7, blue - 5, etc. Think about it, May 5th.

April Fools Flu Flu
Sat Apr 6 saw the second annual
running of the April Fools Flu Flu contest. About a dozen hardy recurve
shooters particpated in aerial target shooting and abreviated clout
shooting. The traveling Flu Flu trophy was awared to Ron Reeves for
2013. Second place was Tom Mathes, and Britni Foster finished
third.

2013 Club Championship
Big turn out for the club
championship last weekend. About 43 adults and 8 youths were shooting
different parts of the 3 events. Bowhunter Freestyle and Traditional were
the largest classes. Scores were very close with several ties and a 3 way
shoot off was needed to determine the winner in Bowhunter.

Monthly 900
Wonderful turn out
for the monthly 900 today. At times there were 28 shooting. Weather a little
nippy in the morning and a slight cross wind made it interesting. Those that
turned in score cards are posted below.

January 2013
Monthly 3-D
With great weather the
January 3-D was very well attended with a total of 67 shooters on the
course. Traditional continues to grow with 18 and Bowhunter Freestyle had
23. Youth is well attended with 12 shooters. Following is the top
shooters in each class and scores.

January 2013
Monthly 900
The Monthly 900 on Sunday
was the best attended yet. We had 23 shooters on the line. Perfect
south Florida weather with light sun, no wind, and mild temperatures. A
rather unique "Robinhood" occured on target one at the 50 yard line. A
large diameter shaft sitting in the X ring, belonging to Jon Coleman, was
struck from behind by a Nano belonging to Darrin McCutcheon. The nock
split and the nano traveled through the larger shaft, blowing the point out of
the larger, to finish on the ground behind the target, vaneless. The
vanes of the nano were wedged in the split nock of Jon's arrow which was still
on his shaft.
Indoor 20 yard
League
The indoor league
for 2012 finished up last night. Congrads to the winners in compound,
John Lackey, Josh Wilson, and Jerry LaChance. Traditional winners, Lee
Schiferl, Sam Arcure, and Joe Simone. Of note, high scratch score
compound, 300 55x, Darrin McCutcheon, and high traditional, 234, Lee
Schiferl.
